Dragon Harper ~ Anne McCaffrey and Todd McCaffrey

This is another in the ever growing Pern series begun by Anne McCaffrey. This book is a continuation of Dragon's Kin, and tells the continuing story of Kindan, after he turned Kist over to Nuella and moved to the the Harper Hall, and for the next couple of years on Pern.

Anne's son, Todd, seems to have taken over this series, and I enjoy his work, but it has a totally different feel than his mother. Todd seems to write a less complex and in depth story. He tells one story, from the beginning to the end, instead of jumping from one character to another to tell several facets of the tale. Still good, and very enjoyable, but just not the same.

Shadow Music ~ Julie Garwood

the second in the Shadow series, part of the Buchanan series. Princess Gabrielle of St Biel is supposed to marry a Scottish laird, only days before the ceremony, he is killed. Through a twist of fate, and several unforeseen events, Gabrielle ends up marrying Laird Colm MacHugh. And they continue the search for the wealth of St Biel.

Plum Lucky ~ Janet Evanovich

book 13.5 in the Stephanie Plum series, a between the numbers novel. Diesel has shown up, again, startling the shit out of Stephanie, then Stephanie's mother calls, and Grandma Mazer is missing. Stephanie goes to Atlantic City in search of Grandma, taking Lula and Connie with her. Through adventure, and misadventure, Stephanie finds her grandmother, only to have her kidnapped and held for ransom. There are only passing encounters with Joe and Ranger, but they are really just background here. Great quick read, and at times I laughed so hard the tears ran.

Strangers in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Another book in the Eve Dallas series (honestly, I have lost count, but it is the most recent, at this time.) Eve has caught another murder, this time a wealthy sporting goods tycoon, who just happens to have offices in the same building as Rourke. Eve figures out fairly quickly who is responsible for the murder, now she just has to prove it! All the old cast are back, including Charles, who we don't see all that often. I really enjoyed this one.

Physik ~ Angie Sage

This is the third book in the Septimus Heap series. This book takes place only a few months after the last, Septimus is the apprentice to the Extraordinary Wizard, and studying for exams, when suddenly he is taken back in time, and now Jenna and all the others must find a way to bring him back.

Flyte ~ Angie Sage

This book two in the Septimus Heap series. This book takes place about a year after the first.The time has come for Jenna to make the annual trip to visit the Dragon Boat, when Simon, the oldest Heap boy, rides into town and kidnaps her. Septimus can't get anyone to believe him that she was kidnapped, they all believe that Simon is just taking her for a ride, so Sep takes it upon himself to see that she is rescued. They fight battles and find out more of the secrets of The Castle and the Magyk of the town.

Magyk ~ Angie Sage

This is the first book in the Septimus Heap series. Septimus is the seventh son of a seventh son, who dies shortly after birth, at the same time, his father finds a tiny baby in the forest, and brings her home to his wife and they raise her as their own. Ten years later many changes happen and the Heap family discovers that they have been raising the princess, and that Septimus may yet be alive!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone ~ J. K. Rowling

This is the first book in the Harry Potter Series. Harry has been raised by his Aunt and Uncle, believing that his parents were killed in a car accident when he was a baby. On the day of his eleventh birthday he discovers that his parents were wizards, and he is slated to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Through the book you follow the adventures and misadventures of Harry and his new friends through their first year at Hogwarts, and his first encounter with Voldemort, the evil wizard who killed his parents.

Dream Chaser ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon

This is the third in the Dream- Hunter novels and one of the Dark Hunter series. Xypher has spent the last several hundred years being tortured in Tartarus, and has been granted one month as a human, to exact his vengeance. Simone is a Medical Examiner for a collage in New Orleans. They are tied together by a set of bracelets designed to help kill gods, you kill on wearing the bracelet and the other will die, so attaching them to a human, makes it easy to kill a god. In the path to get the bracelets off, and move on with their lives, they learn more about each other and start to find similarities in their lives.

The Outlaw Demon Wails ~ Kim Harrison

This is the sixth book in the Hallows series. Rachel Morgan is coming
to terms with the death of her boyfriend, Kisten, three months earlier,
though still feeling guilty, because he died saving her. When, out of the blue, an old acquaintance shows up in her life. Also, at the same time, the Demon who is determined to kill her, manages to get out of his imprisonment, and come after her. This is the first book in the Tower and Hive series. This book tells the story of Raven, orphaned as a young child and only discovered because of her talent. She is raised to be a tower prime, Rowan leads a lonely life, until an invasion of a colony planet, brings her to meet Jeff Raven, and drives her to over come some of the beliefs and phobias she has dealt with all her life.

Pegasus in Space ~ Anne McCaffrey

This is the third, and final, book in the Pegasus series. And it has set the final stage for the beginning of the Tower and Hive series. This book takes place immediately after the last. With Peter Ridinger, a very strong telepath and telekinetic talent, as he grows and learns what he needs to learn to start his adult life. He is determined to make it into space, and works hard to get there and make the things in his life happen.

Pegasus in Flight ~ Anne McCaffrey

This the second in the Pegasus series. It takes place two generations after the first book, with descendants of those characters. Rhyssa is now the Director of the Center, and always on the look out for new talents, as well as trying to manage the talents she has in the jobs that need them. Suddenly, something is invading Rhyssa's sleep after some investigation they find that it is Peter, a young man who has recently been injured and has discovered that through Talent he can escape his injured body, and now they just need to figure out how to train him, and how much he can do.

To Ride Pegasus ~ Anne McCaffrey

This the first book in the Pegasus series, which leads into the Tower and Hive series. This is a series of short stories that are key parts in the formation of the Center for Talent, which detects and develops those talents which have previously not been recognized, such as telepathy, teleportation, empathy. etc.

Stephanie is on a case to bring in a woman who appears to have disappeared, except the ex-boyfriend of her FTA keeps receiving clues, and wants to hire Stephanie to decode them and find her. Along the way someone starts firebombing Stephanie, and destroys her car, and apartment. At the same time Stephanie's boss, Vinnie, has given her FTA to her arch enemy, Joyce Barnhardt, who seems to be following Stephanie to find the mark. There are more encounters with Morelli, and of course, Ranger is back as well.

The Warrior ~ Kinley MacGregor

this is one of the books in the Brotherhood of the Sword series. Historical romance, set shortly after the crusades. One thing after another happens, and now they are looking for a suspected murderer, and total nut case, still Kenny. Joe helps when it benefits him, and his case. Grandma Mazer is determined to help Stephanie, and ends up attacked on the street. Stephanie temporarily moves home to protect her family, and continues to search for Kenny.

Creation in Death ~ J. D. Robb

The thirtieth story in the Eve Dallas series. Eve is called out on a murder that appears to be the resurfacing of a murderer who got away from them 9 years earlier. As they proceed to investigate it dawns on them that the profile of victim on this case is a perfect match for Eve, and it appears that Eve may be on the list that this killer has planned.

One for the Money ~ Janet Evanovich

The first in her Stephanie Plum series. Stephanie is desperate for work, and blackmails her cousin Vinnie into giving her a job as a bounty hunter. She fumbles her way through to solve the crime and apprehend the fugitive to get her money.

The Last of the Red Hot Vampires ~ Katie MacAlister

This is the fourth in the Dark Ones series. Portia is a scientist, and skeptic, touring England with her best friend, who is out to find all the paranormal she can locate. Through a series of events Portia is gifted with the powers of a virtue. Along the way she encounters Theo, a nephilim, who is trying to help her pass the trials she must pas to become a true virtue. Along the way, though a series of missteps, Theo becomes a Dark One, and now Portia is determined to earn his soul back.

Holy Smokes ~ Katie MacAlister

this is book four in the Aisling Gray series. Aisling is set to be married, but something comes up, and the wedding has to be postponed. She unknowingly runs into the king, who determines she would be the perfect bride for his son, and next queen of Alaska. Christina then meets David, and we follow her journey though engagement and preparation for a royal wedding and some of the pitfalls that accompany such an event.

Wife For Hire ~ Janet Evanovich

I believe this is a reprint of one of her early novels, but not certain. Quick read, great for something light and fun. Man advertises to hire a woman to pretend to be his wife for 6 months in order to get a loan. She takes the job to get the time to write a book, both also looking to escape other things in their lives, and a romance grows between the two.

This is the fourth in the Pern series. This book takes up exactly where the last one left off. With Menolly going to the Harper Hall. In the Hall, Menolly is tested, and treated as though she is welcomed, Menolly is not used to this type of treatment and is somewhat lost at first. She soon learns that not only is her music and 'tunings' accepted, but expected and praised. Soon Menolly finds friends, and her place in the Harper Hall.

Menolly learns to live on her own, evading thread, and thriving, until she is found by a dragon man, and taken to Bendon Wyer.

This is the second book in the Pern series. It has been several years since Lessa went back in time to bring forward the wyers of dragons to fight thread. Now there are troubles with those dragonmen. They are having a hard time adjusting to modern times and practices. And on top of that, even more seems to be changing, and Thread is not keeping to the pattern that had been worked out. Now F'lar and Lessa need to determine what must be done now.

Jude has a large series on the extensive Montgomery - Taggart family, through several centuries) Jace Montgomery has been mourning the death of his fiance for the last three years. and has recently found a clue as to why she might have committed suicide, so he heads to England to find out. Along the way he meets ghosts, and encounters all the particularities of a small English town.

Inkheart ~ Cornelia Funke

this is the first book in the Inkspell trilogy. I only got half way through this book... it just didn't grab my attention, and that is rare for a book. I didn't feel it was a BAD book... just not a grabbing one.
