this is the second book in the Dark Ones series. Christian, who we met in Single Girls Guide to Vampires, is in London for a book signing, and visiting with Joy, Raphael and Roxy. While in London, he meets Allegra, Allie for short, a Summoner there on tour, visiting haunted places in town trying to document ghosts and summon them. Allegra agrees to help Christian find a friend of his who has disappeared, and they have a great adventure.

A Girl's Guide to Vampires ~ Katie MacAlister

This is the first in a series of vampire books by Katie MacAlister. In this book Joy and her friend Roxy visit the Czech Republic in a hunt for a writer who writes their favorite series.. about vampires. Along the way they meat new people, and discover that there has been a series of murders following the vampire fair that is in the area where they are going. They attempt to solve the crimes, and Joy falls in love at the same time.

A Bite to Remember ~ Lynsay Sands

This is the fifth book in the Argeneau series. In this novel Vincent, an actor, is having trouble with his productions, it appears as though someone is sabotaging them, forcing him to stop productions on several plays. Vincent hires a private detective who is used to dealing with vampires. Jackie Morrisey, who's name he got through Bastien, his cousin. Jackie has been dealing with vampires since she turned 18 and her father brought her into the detective agency. She has had some encounters with vampires that have left her very leery of them and unable to trust them.

Tall, Dark and Hungry ~ Lynsay Sands

This is the fourth book in the Argeneau series. In this story we follow the tale of Bastien Argeneau, as he is trying to help his brother Lucern, and his fiance Kate, prepare for their wedding, suddenly, Kate's cousin / best friend Terri is coming to town, and Kate and Lucern need to go out of town. Terri ends up staying at the family penthouse with Bastien while they try to make sure everything goes smoothly for the two people who are so important to them!

Robot Santa ~ Dean Koontz

The Further Adventures of Santa's Twin, this is a sequel to Koontz's Santa's Twin. This is written as a poem, similar to Twas the Night before Christmas, but with much more mischief. Santa's twin brother, Bob, has built a robot to help out Santa on the big night.. but something has gone wrong!!!

I found this quite amusing, it was written as a children's book, like the Santa's Twin, with some really great illustrations. It is definitely a collector's item!!

Single White Vampire ~ Lynsay Sand

This is the third in book in the Argeneau series. In this story, Lucern, a writer, who has been writing the stories of his siblings' romances and had them published as paranormal fiction, meets Kate, his new editor, who is determined that Lucern do at least one publicity event.

Love Bites ~ Lynsay Sands

This is the second book in the Argeneau series. This is the story of Etienne Argeneau, a video game programmer, and Rachel, a local coroner. Etienne ends up in Rachel's morgue, when she realizes that he appears to be healing... and all of a sudden a man bursts in, and tells her that Etienne is a vampire, and proceeds to attempt to cut his head of with an ax. Rachel steps into the way and is morally wounded by the ax, the man runs off. Etienne turns her to vampire to save her life, and then must teach her how to survive. While trying to protect her from the man who is trying to kill him.

A Quick Bite ~ Lynsay Sands

This is the first installment in the Argeneau series. This is about Lissianne, a vampire, but the twist is that vampires are not what we have always thought of them as, they are basically human, but need blood to survive, like hemophiliacs. The race originally started way back in Atlantis, when nanos were invented (tiny, tiny computers, that are introduced into the body intravenously, designed to repair the body, then self destruct) the problems is that the body is always sustaining damage. From the sun.. from aging.. from disease... so the nanos are constantly repairing the body, so you live much longer, and it is the nanos that require the blood, they use blood to reproduce and for fuel, so the more damage your body sustains, the more blood you need to drink.

Anyway, Lissianne has a phobia... she is hemophobic, this can be a major problem to someone who must drink blood to survive!! So her mother kidnaps a psychologist who specializes in phobias for Lissi's birthday to cure her of her phobia.

This was great, I can't wait to get to more in the series!!!

Motor Mouth ~ Janet Evanovich

This is the second book in the Barnaby series. Alex Barney has a taste for speed and trouble. In an attempt to help a friend Barney and her sometimes boyfriend, Hooker, "borrow' a NASCAR hauler, discover a dead body and become wanted for questioning in said murder. The owners of the hauler want something back that was hidden in the hauler, and are willing to forget that it was "borrowed" only if that item is returned, undamaged. It turns out to be a wild ride, running from the bad guys and dealing with the bodies that keep turning up. There is a great deal of comedy and blunders that just keep you laughing and engrossed as the story rolls along.

Mistral's Kiss ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the fifth novel in the Merry Gentry series. Merry is a half faerie, as in one of the magic peoples from Ireland, and is in a contest to become the queen of the Unseelie, the first person, Merry or her cousin Cel, to reproduce shall become ruler, Merry would be Queen, where Cel would be King. There is a battle going on among all the Faerie peoples in the underworld ruled by the Unseelie, between those who want to see Merry rule, and those who want to see Cel rule.

Danse Macabre ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the fourteenth book in the Anita Blake series. This book seems to be where we will work out a lot of emotional issues. In the very beginning, Anita believes she may be pregnant, and is unsure how to deal with how she is feeling about this possibility. We also see some of Richard's issues, a lot more of Anita's and even some of Asher's.

At the same time, they have a bunch of visiting Master's of the City, who have been invited to enjoy a traveling ballet group, made up entirely of vampires. And, of course, there are complications in dealing with all the visiting Masters.

Micah ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the thirteenth book in the Anita Blake series, it is a short story, at least much shorter than the average book in this series. In this book, Anita and Micah take a trip to Philadelphia for an Animating (raising a zombie) job for the FBI. The agent in charge of the case that Anita has been hired for is one that already knew Micah, and Anita now learns the story of how Micah became a wereleopard. Also in the story they learn that though Anita is not a Lycantrope, she is a carrier for four different kinds of lycantropy, which is totally unheard of! Great story, shows a bit more back ground and day to day life for Anita and her men.

Incubus Dreams ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the twelfth book in the Anita Blake series. We see a lot of progress in Anita's personal situation in this book, she realizes that she is not giving Nathanial what he needs, that in trying to make herself feel like she is not using him, while making him her Pomme de Sang, that in fact, she is making him feel used. She also manages to forge another Triumvirate, this one between her, Nathanial, and Damian, and in this one Anita is the Master.

Anita also moves to another level in her dealings with the Ardeur, and in the amount of power that her triumvirates wield. During all this, Anita is also trying to help the police solve a serial murder, committed by vampires.

Fear the Darkness ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon

This is a short story that is part of the Dark Hunter series. It tells a small portion of Nick's tale, Nick was a friend to Ash, for a long time, until Nick's mother was killed by Daimons. Nick blamed Ash and called down Artemis, and when Artemis told him that he had to be dead to become a Dark Hunter, he killed himself. Now Nick is determined to use his immortality to get revenge against Ash for allowing his mother to die.

Cerulean Sins ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the eleventh book in the Anita Blake series. In this book, the vampire at the head of Jean-Claude's line has sent a representative to visit with Jean-Claude, she arrives three months early and totally unexpected, and this causes many problems. We deal with the visiting vampires, as well as Richard's issues with himself and his beast, as well as a serial murderer loose in St. Louis. Anita is also learning to deal with and control the Ardeur, which is what makes Anita a form of Succubus, it is a need she gained when she and Jean-Claude married the marks of her being his human servant.

Narcissus in Chains ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the tenth book in the Anita Blake series. In the very beginning of this novel, Anita is called to rescue Nathanial, one of her wereleopards. Once she gets to the club where he is, there is more going on that they originally thought. Anita and Jean-Claude, along with Richard, ‘marry’ their vampire marks, meaning that Anita and Richard receive the 4^th and finial mark of servant, and they are now a true triumvirate. In the fight to get Nathanial back, Anita is severely injured, and it now appears that Anita may be a wereleopard herself, and the true Namir-Ra to her pard. Anita also has to try to save Damien, the vampire she has managed to free from his creators and his blood oath to Jean-Claude, by way of her necromancy, who after she cut herself off from everyone to try to come to terms with herself, went crazy and has spent the last 6 months locked in a coffin covered in crosses.

Obsidian Butterfly ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the ninth novel in the Anita Blake series. In this novel Anita has to repay Edward for having killed his backup in a previous novel (The Killing Dance). He calls Anita and tells her he needs her to come to Santa Fe and help with the case he is working on. Anita arrives in New Mexico, and visits the crime scenes, and starts investigating, as well as meeting a couple more of Edwards associates. Anita also meets the local Master of the City, an Aztec goddess.

Blue Moon ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the eighth book in the Anita Blake series. In the very beginning of this book, Anita gets a call, Richard has been arrested in Tennessee for Attempted Rape, which we all know he didn't commit. The Master of the City there has refused to allow Jean-Claude or any of his people passage, but Anita goes anyway. After they get down there, Anita and her bodyguards, a couple vampires, a few wereleopards, and a few werewolves, run into trouble with the local sheriff, as well as with the Master of the City. Together with the local werewolf den, they battle it out and solve the problems.

Burnt Offerings ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the seventh book in the Anita Blake series. In the beginning of this novel, Anita learns that her killing Gabriel in the last book has left the Wereleopards without a leader, and they have become anyone's meat, basically, free for anyone who cares to use or abuse them. So in trying to help them out, she becomes their Alpha, their leader. At the same time, she is still considered Lupa for the Werewolves, cause Richard still has not chosen another mate, so she also protects / commands them.
While all this is happening, the Vampire Counsel has come to town, looking for revenge for the killing of one of it's members... Mr Oliver (Circus of the Damned). Anita must do her best to protect or seek revenge for her Wereleopards and her Werewolves, while trying to survive the encounter with the Council, and not getting any of their party killed.

The Killing Dance ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the sixth novel in the Anita Blake series. In this novel Anita is still dating both Richard and Jean-Claude. And Edward informs her that there has been a contract taken out on her life, someone wants her dead. So Anita and Edward try to find the assassin before the assassin can find Anita. In the mean time, Anita is still navigating the intricacies of dating a werewolf and a vampire.

Bloody Bones ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the fifth book in the Anita Blake series. Anita is called to another part of the state to investigate some preternatural deaths. While there, there are some vampire killings, and Anita becomes involved, and ends up having to ask Jean-Claude for help. We get to see a lot more of Jean-Claude and Jason, a werewolf that Jean Claude keeps close to him. There is also a great deal more cooperation between Anita and Jean-Claude in this novel. We only have one scene with Richard in the entire novel, and it is a short one. There is also very little of the RPIT team, as they are stuck in St. Louis investigating a murder of their own.

The Lunatic Cafe ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the fourth book in the Anita Blake series. This is more about shape shifters than Vampires, although, Jean-Claude does play a role, as Anita is convinced to date both him and Richard. This book starts out with a missing werewolf and her husband is looking for her. As the story progresses we find out that there are 7 or 8 missing Lycanthropes, of several different species. Anita has been hired to find out what happened to them, at the same time, she has to face some of the difficulties of dating a werewolf.

Circus of the Damned ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the third book in the Anita Blake Series. In this book Anita has her first real encounters with Lycanthropes, or shape shifters, more specifically, werewolves. She is trying to solve a series of murders committed by vampires and has more than one meeting with Jean-Claude to that end. This is also the first time we encounter Richard Zeeman, a love interest for Anita.

The Laughing Corpse ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the second book in the Anita Blake series. In this book, someone wants Anita to raise a zombie so old that she would need a human sacrifice to do so, Anita refuses, so that person is out to convince her that she needs to do it. Anita is also trying to avoid Jean-Claude, the new Master of the City (vampire), who wants Anita to be his human servant. She is also threatened by a voodoo priestess who wants Anita to join her in a 'business venture.' There is plenty of action, from being assaulted by muscle bound bodyguards, to being attacked by zombies.

This is one of my favorite series, it progresses well, and is quite entertaining.

Guilty Pleasures ~ Laurell Hamilton

This is the first in the Anita Blake series. Anita is an animator, she is able to raise the dead. She is also known as The Executioner, because she is a vampire hunter, she chases and kills vampires who have been convicted to death (in Anita's world, vampirism has been legalized, there is living, dead and undead... ) In this novel, the Master of the City (vampire) hires Anita, against her will, to solve a series of vampire murders happening in St. Louis (Anita's home city). Along the way we learn some of Anita's history, and meet some of her friends.

I have read this series before, and I really like it, it was just what I am in the mood to read for the next little bit.

Breaking Point ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is the ninth book in the Troubleshooters series. It tells the story of Max, an FBI negotiator, and Gina, who was a hostage in an earlier novel, that Max worked trying to free. Very engrossing, made me shake just to read it, I couldn't wait till I could get back to it.

Hot Target ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is the eight book in the Troubleshooters series. It tells the story of Cosmo, a Navy SEAL with Team Sixteen, working part time for for Troubleshooters Inc. and J. Mercedes Chadwick, a Hollywood movie producer. Mercedes is making a movie about a couple of men during WWII and has started receiving death threats, when her production company hires Troubleshooters Inc. to see to her security. This story was very engrossing, and involved, it was very hard for me to put it down and do anything else, I LOVED it. I was totally surprised by the bad guy in the end, I had it totally wrong!

Thanksgiving ~ Janet Evanovich

This is one of her early romances, it is Very cute, and entertaining, not as funny as the Stephanie Plum novels, but I can see the start of them . Tells the story of Megan, a part time ticket taker, part time potter, and Pat, a pediatrician. As a baby is dropped in their laps and they can't bear to call CPS, so they take care of it till the mother returns. Along with all the happenings and mishaps along the way.

Flashpoint ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is the seventh book in the Troubleshooters series. It is the first novel that they are no longer part of Navy SEAL Team Sixteen, but have broken off, and formed Troubleshooters Inc. This is the story of Jimmy, and Tess, both Ex-CIA, who have quit, and been recruited by Troubleshooters Inc. then sent in to a hostile area to retrieve an item that is pivotal to counter terrorism battles. Very engrossing, and quite entertaining.

Gone too Far ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is the sixth novel in the Troubleshooter's series, it tells the story of Sam, a Navy Seal with Team Sixteen, and Alyssa, a former Navy sniper, now working for FBI's counterterriorism unit. We have seen lots of Sam and Alyssa in the past, and it is finally time for their story. Sam's daughter and ex-wife have disappeared, and Sam is a suspect in their disappearance. Alyssa is part of the team in charge of apprehending and questioning Sam, but doesn't believe that Sam is guilty. This is an action packed thriller, I just couldn't put it down. it was GREAT

Into the Night ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is the fifth book in the Troubleshooters series. This tells the story of Joan, a White House Staffer, and Mike, a Navy SEAL with Team Sixteen's Troubleshooters. Mike starts out giving Joan a tour of the base and an example of some of what SEALs go through in training and Hell Week on the base where Team Sixteen is stationed. We also get to follow the story of a couple during WWII. I was very entertained by this story, I was engrossed in the action and intrigue, and kept hopping my the events in the story, I did figure out who the bad guy was in the end, long before some even realized that there WAS a bad buy, But I think part of that may be that I am becoming accustomed to Suzanne's writing style.

Out of Control ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is the fourth novel in the Troubleshooter's series. It tells the story of Savannah, a young lawyer who needs to make a trip to Indonesia to deliver a large amount of money to help her uncle, and enlists the aid of Ken Karmody, a Navy Seal with Team Sixteen's Troubleshooters unit. We follow their adventures and misadventures to and through Indonesia. We also get to hear the story of Savannah's grandmother, a double agent between the US and Germany during WWII..

I really enjoyed this novel, it was very entertaining, and so engrossing I could barely put it down.

Over the Edge ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is book #3 in the Troubleshooters series by Suzanne. So far, this series is very engrossing. You have a elite Navy Seals team, and a crisis that they have to work an op through, and the main romance that happens along the way. At the same time you have a background romance, as well as a retelling of a romance that happened during a previous war (in the three I have read so far, we have had one during WWI and two during WWII) and in the end, it all ties together and makes sense, it is quite engrossing and very entertaining.

The Wizard of London ~ Mercedes Lackey

This is the fourth novel in the Elemental Masters' series by Mercedes Lackey. It takes place in 19th century England, and tells the story of 2 young talented girls in a boarding school, and their encounters with a few things magical.

The Defiant Hero ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is the second novel in the Troubleshooters series. This is a story about Meg, who's daughter and grandmother have been abducted by terrorists, and given her a job to get them back. Along the way she enlists and uses a Navy Seal that she once knew. This is the story of what she has to do, and what happens along the way. It was a very intriguing and engrossing story, I really enjoyed it.

The Unsung Hero ~ Suzanne Brockmann

This is the first book in the Troubleshooters series. This is the story of a Navy Seal who has been injured and goes home on leave to visit his family. While there he thinks he sees a terrorist that he has spent a great deal of time hunting in the past, but is presumed to be dead now. He meets the girl he loved before he left, and tries to deal with the impending death of her father, who happens to be his uncle's best friend for over 60 years, all while trying to determine if he actually is seeing this terrorist, or if he is going crazy.

I really enjoyed this novel, it reminds me a great deal of Catherine Coulter's FBI series. Lots of mystery and suspense with several plot twists. It kept me enthralled!

Whirlpool ~ Elizabeth Lowell

This is a reprint of an older Ann Maxwell book called Ruby, I didn't realize this at first, but since I hadn't read Ruby, I still enjoyed it.

The book tells the story of jewelry designer Laurel Swann, whose father has stolen a previously unknown Faberge egg, and now the owners are after her for it. Along the way she meets Cruz Rowan, an ex FBI agent who is trying to recover the egg. They team up and do what they can to keep from being killed, and to return the egg to its owners.

This book has a similar feeling to it as Lowell's Donovan series, which I loved, so I found this one quite enjoyable, can't wait till her next release!!

The Supernaturalist ~ Eoin Colfer

This is a Sci-fi children's novel. It tells the story of 3 teenagers, and an adult who appears to be a small child as they chase and kill what appears to be a supernatural parasite. Very entertaining, though not quite as engrossing as Eoin's Artimis Fowl series. I still can't wait to get my hands on more of his work.

Mark of Merlin ~ Anne Mccaffrey

This is one of Anne's romance novels only the third of these that I have read, I believe. Not that there are many of them to begin with. This one takes place on Cape Cod during WWII. 20 year old James Carlyle Murdock travels to meet her new guardian, Regan Laird, a Major from her father's unit who has care of her for the next few months, until she turns 21. After a string of robbery attempts and strange happenings they are trying to discover who is behind her father's death and a string of thefts from France.

I really enjoyed this, it is a pretty quick read, and different from her Sci-Fi stuff, but still very entertaining.

Less of a Stranger ~Nora Roberts (pt 2 of Dream Makers)

I really enjoyed this one, it is the story of Meg, a sculpture, who helps her grandfather, who raised her, run his carnival instead of following her dreams. until she meets David Ketcherton, an entrepreneur who is determined to own the carnival. This was a pretty good story, a reprint of one of Nora's early books.

Untamed ~ Nora Roberts (pt 1 of Dream Makers)

The Matchmakers is 2 stories in one, so I decided to review them separately. Untamed is the story of Jo, a lion trainer with the circus, and Keane, the new owner of the circus that she has been with since she was born. They have ups and downs and it is quite a ride.

Valley of Silence ~ Nora Roberts

This is the third and final book in the Circle Trilogy. In this book the finial battle between Man and the vampires takes place in Gaell. The circle of six humans that have spent 3 months gathering and training themselves and their army to battle the vampires finally faces the day they have been preparing for. A very interesting story, with, of course, an underlying romance. A new tale ( at least to me) , not a reworking of some old theme that has been reworked to be retold for the millionth time. I really enjoyed this one. It took me a little while to get into it, I think partly cause It had been a bit since I read the first two, and I had read so much in between, I just wasn't in the mood for this to start. Hmm... What to read next?

Dragon's Fire ~ Anne McCaffrey & Todd McCaffrey

This is a Pern Novel (way too many to count, and the order can be confusing) , This takes place during the second interval, during the same time, but from a different perspective, as Dragon's Kin. This story deals less with the mining of coal, and more with the Shunned and the mining of firestone, and how dangerous firestone mining can be. Yet the firestone is extremely important, as the time for the third pass is coming and they need the firestone for the dragons to burn the thread from the sky, and to practice being able to do so.

I really enjoyed this story, as I always enjoy the Pern novels. This feels to be more of Todd's work than Anne's as I can tell the difference in the 'feel' of Todd's work than from Anne's not that I don't like it just as much, it just has a different feel to it, and a different approach to the people.

Sullivan's Woman ~ Nora Roberts

This is one of Nora's early works, and a harlequin romance originally.

This book takes place in San Francisco, and is centered around Cassidy St. John, an aspiring writer, who is stopped one day on the beach and told that the man who stopped her want's to paint her. She doesn't realize untill she shows up for the sitting that he man is Colin Sullivan and a very famous artist. They have ups and downs, and in the end, create a very beautiful painting. I really enjoyed this.

Song of the West ~ Nora Roberts

This is one of Nora's early works, and a harlequin romance originally.

Samantha leaves her home in Philadelphia to go to Wyoming and help her twin sister Sabrina with a difficult pregnancy and falls in love with the place and one man in particular.

I enjoyed it, and it was just the right thing for the mood I was in at the time.

Her Mother's Keeper ~ Nora Roberts

This is one of Nora's early works, from the early 80's, it was a harlequin novel originally. Tells the story of Gwen, who goes home to Louisiana to save her mother from someone who she sees to be a taker, and ends up falling in love along the way. This was entertaining, especially when taken as a quick read and a harlequin romance.

Conspiracy Game ~ Christine Feehan

This is the fourth book in the GhostWalkers series by Christine Feehan. This series is about people who have been enhanced both physically and psychicly by a scientist to create his own super warriors and are trying to break free of him and his goons. This book is about Briony Jenkins and Jack Norton, I found it quite entertaining and intriguing, can't wait for the next one to come out.

Dance of the Gods ~ Nora Roberts

This is the second book in the Circle Trilogy, it tells the story of a group called together by Morrigan to battle vampires. In this novel they travel through the Dance of the Gods to another land, where two of the circle are from, and continue to prepare for the upcoming battle. Very entertaining, and so engrossing I didn't want to put it down. I forgot to load the third onto my palm, so I will have to read it now that I am home.

Morrigan's Cross ~ Nora Roberts

This is the first book in Nora's new Circle Trilogy, it tells the story of a group called together by Morrigan to battle vampires. Hoyt and Cian are from Ireland in the tenth century, Hoyt being a sorcerer, and Cian having been turned into a vampire in his own time and lived the last thousand years. There is also Glenna, a witch from New York City in the current era, as well as 3 others from various places, who complete the 'circle' that is the base of the army that will battle the vampires. I found this book very entertaining and I look forward to reading the following two.

Into the Dreaming ~ Karen Marie Moning

This is a book in the Highlander series, which also deals with the fairy element of Scottish lore, I find it very entertaining. It is also a romance novel, and a more risque one at that. In this novelette we follow the story of Aedan and Jane in a time travel romance.

Haunted in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Twenty Sixth in the Eve Dallas Series, this is another short story. It was pretty good, Eve solves a 85 year old murder, along with a modern one. I thought I had it all figured out, only to be surprised at the end, very entertaining!

Memory in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Twenty Fifth in the Eve Dallas series, this was really good, I figured it out very very early on, but the trip to get to conclusion was still very entertaining. We are to Eve and Rourke's second Christmas together, with Eve still working on learning how to deal with family and holidays. A bit more of the dynamics of the relationship between Eve and Summerset, and a truce for the holiday. Loved getting to see Peabody go through the meet the family panic before meeting McNab's family, very realistic!! Moving on to Haunted in Death.

Origin in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Twenty Fourth in the Eve Dallas series, this one was a little bit creepy. I enjoyed it, but it touched on some issues that just kinda made my skin crawl a little. I enjoyed the growth in the relationship between Eve and Peabody from aide to partners, as well as the ongoing relationship with Peabody and McNab. Eve and Rourke's fear of pregnancy and children is quite amusing, as is their reaction every time it is mentioned that they are gonna coach for Mavis during delivery. Rourke is developing more of a relationship with his family, and by extension, Eve is learning what a family is like as well. I enjoyed this one!!

The Husband ~ Dean Koontz

I listened to most of this on Unabridged Audio book as I have spent over 8 hrs in the car with no other adult in the last two days (kids were watching DVDs) It was very engrossing and entertaining, you follow the events of a gardener from Orange, Ca. after his wife has been kidnapped and he is told the ransom is 2 million dollars. There are twists and revelations that are a bit shocking sometimes, and very enthralling. I highly recommend!! I can't wait to get my hands on Brother Odd, as it is released at the end of this month.

Survivor in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Twenty Third in the Eve Dallas Series, this one was really great. Peabody is becoming more of a partner and less subserviant with every day that passes, and I love to see her smart mouthed comments to and about Eve. Got to see alot more of Summerset in this one, and more of the McNab, Peabody dynamic, I find that quite amusing too. Also we love to see Rourke becoming more and more involved in Eve's police work, and that he enjoys it, despite his feelings about most cops. Can't wait to start the next one. Origin in Death

Visions in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Twenty Second in the Eve Dallas Series, this one was great, totally shocked me at the end. I had no clue!! Loved getting to see the 'Friends' dynamic develop, as well as some of the bickering relationship between Eve and Sommerset. Outstanding, can't wait to start Survivor in Death.

Divided in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Twenty-first book in the Eve Dallas series. I have really enjoyed this, we have found out a bit more about Eve's past, and how they deal with it. As well as what type of revenge they might take, if any, about her past. And alot of how they work together and apart to make the marriage work. We see more of Dr. Mira and her husband, as well as several others that we are very used to seeing, as well as just touching on a others, like Officer Trueheart.

I figured this one out before they told us who it was, but not by a great deal, maybe a chapter or two, and had a lot of ideas on how he managed it, although the accomplice totally blew me away. Very good book... now to get started on #22... Visions in Death!!

Remember When ~ J. D. Robb & Nora Roberts

Twentieth in the Eve Dallas series, this one is really different from the others, as it is essentially, two books in one. It starts out as a typical Nora Roberts romance/thriller and tells a modern day story, (2003) Very good.. Then when that story has been told it goes to 2059 (Eve Dallas time ) and tells a story that is a sequel to the first, only taking place 56 years later with even some of the same characters. It was great to follow the story from beginning to end, even after over 50 years of being a 'cold case'. We also got to see a little bit of the dynamics in the works, and how they are changing a little, between Eve and Peabody. And even some between Peabody and McNab. Can't wait to move on to the next one.. Divided in Death.

Imitation in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Nineteenth in the Eve Dallas series, this one was REALLY enjoyable. I went back and forth as to who I suspected the murderer was for a little bit, and did finally figure it out. Not before Eve did, but before she revealed who it was. I also really enjoyed some of the dynamics between Eve and Peabody in this one, as well as Peabody and McNab. Eve also remembered a bit more from her past, and the first glimpses of her mother here, all in all a bit informative... Can't wait to start the next one, Remember When.

Portriat in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Eighteenth book in the Eve Dallas series. This one was great, totally blindsided me, I had NO clue who the killer was. In this one we got to learn a lot more about Rourke's past, which is a change, because usually we learn bits and pieces about Eve, but very little about Rourke. We also got to learn more about Summerset and his relationship with Rourke, and watch the relationship between him and Eve grow a little bit more. Officer Trueheart was back, he is starting to make regular appearances!! Can't wait to get onto the next one.. Imitation in Death.

Purity in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Seventeenth book in the Eve Dallas series, this story was much more engrossing and involving than the last few have been. The story took a much more personal tone when friends were injured. We also got to see more from Peabody and McNab, as well as Trueheart, and Jamie from a very early book (#5 Ceremony in Death). Eve had more to do with Summerset here, and less of the antagonism she usually reserves just for him. Very enjoyable.

I totally didn't see the end of this one coming, I didn't suspect the person that the book was leading you to suspect, but I didn't get the right person either. Still a great book. Looking forward to the next one, Portrait in Death.

Reunion in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Sixteenth in the Eve Dallas series, this was an intriguing story. Eve had to face a killer she had put away once, who had been released and was taking her capture personally. We also got to meet Peabody's parents, they were a very interesting couple, and quite likable. Also, saw more and deeper into the Peabody, McNab relationship, which seems to be moving well, at the moment at least. Peabody got handed her first homicide case, and how she handled that. Also, Eve had to make a trip back to Dallas and ended up facing a lot of the demons of her past. We got to see how she, and Rourke, dealt with that. Very good... Now onto the next one, Purity in Death.

Seduction in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Fifteenth in the Eve Dallas series this was pretty good. We got to see insights into the killers' minds from the beginning, even if we weren't sure who exactly they were. I also enjoyed seeing more play out between Charles, Peabody and McNab. As well as the interaction between Eve and Summerset, and how Summerset really does care, he just shows it in a manner that will do the most good to Eve. In other words, in an antagonistic manner, but he did take the time to explain that they needed to take some time away, and why she needed to do so, it was cool. On to the next one.. Reunion in Death.

Interlude in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Fourteenth in the Eve Dallas series, this was a nice short story. This was a good short story, had a good story, I had it figured out before the end, but not that far before hand, not that there was THAT much time, the whole story only took me about an hour to read. Got to see lots of our favorite charicters, although Summerset was mentioned, he was not in the story, and McNab wasn't even mentioned (again, short story) the whole story took place in under 72 hours and they were some pretty frantic times trying to get the murder solved in that time. I really enjoyed it, and look forward to the next in the series, Seduction in Death.

Betrayal in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Thirteenth in the Eve Dallas series. This one was pretty good. I was surprized by some of the twists, but not all. I totally saw who the third victim would be, and was glad to see some of the dynamics between Eve and Rourke. As well as some of the things working between Peabody and McNab. Looking forward to the next one!!

Judgement in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Twelfth story in the Eve Dallas series, I really loved this book. We got to see Eve have to work to make things work in her marriage, and that Rourke isn't the only one who gives to make the marriage work. We saw a little bit of the McNab, Peabody dynamic, but not to much. We saw how Mavis's career is advancing. Plus we solved the crime, I had figured it out, but only shortly before Eve did, it was great!!

Witness in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Eleventh Story in the Eve Dallas Series, I enjoyed this one. We got to see more between Peabody and McNab, with McNab trying to make more of the relationship, and Peabody make less of it. Eve is learning to make the effort to show Rourke how much she loves him, even if it sometimes means taking time from the job. Rourke is still taking care of Eve, which I totally love to see. We also got to see Officer Trueheart again, from Conspiracy in Death, and I suspect we will get to see plenty more of him, so far I really like him. This was a pretty good mystery story, I knew that it was one of the main characters in the play ,and who she really was, but I hadn't yet figured out which one.

Loyalty in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Tenth story in the Eve Dallas series. This one was really great, I had NO clue who was behind it all until the plot was revealed. We got to see some of Summerset softening towards Eve, and even caring for her some, though his method of doing that is to dig at her like he always has, he sees what is under the sniping and helps Rourke to take care of her.
We got to learn a lot more about Peabody this time around, meet her brother, and watch her starting to explore a relationship with McNab. I am hoping this may go some where, as they seem to really go well together, despite their constant bickering.
Next in the series is Witness in Death, guess I have to go dig it up now...

Conspiracy in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Ninth in the Eve Dallas series, I really enjoyed this story. Eve did more crossing the line in this story than in any of the previous novels, but only after they had already put her under investigation and taken her badge, but in the testing we also got to see how far she would go on the job and where she would draw the line. We got to see a ton more of Rourke and a bit more of Sommerset actually caring for Eve and not just antagonizing her. I really enjoyed it, had it figured out pretty early, at least most of it, but some of the participants surprised me. So far, this is one of the best in the series, but, again, I am only about a third of the way through the series.

Midnight in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Eighth story in the Eve Dallas series, this was a short story. I enjoyed it, it was a bit different, without loosing the over all feel of the series, as a lot of authors can do on short stories in a series. It did lack a lot of the depth of story and character that we are used to seeing in the series, but with a short story there just isn't space for it. We didn't have to figure out the killer in this one, it was given to us at the very beginning, they just had to find and capture him. Still was very enjoyable.

At about one third the way through the series, as it stands so far, I have come to love the way Rourke takes care of Eve, and am really hoping for some kind of of agreement between her and Sommerset, at least so that they don't totally hate each other, and I really do think it is in the works. He seems to be coming to care for her, at least enough to help Rourke in taking care of her. I have started on Conspiracy in Death, we shall see if it is as good as the rest of the series so far...

Holiday in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Seventh book in the Eve Dallas series. I really enjoyed this one, it was another of those that you just hate to put down, and more than once I found myself stretching out across the bed to read for a few minutes (or more than a few!!) I did figure this one out, but only pages before the killer was revealed. And more from experience with the author (I have read most of her books under the name Nora Roberts, as well as the 6 previous books in the series) , than from hints and evidence in the story.

I am getting ready to start Midnight in Death, it is a short story, and next in the series. Hoping it will be as good as those leading up to it.

Vengeance in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Sixth book in the Eve Dallas Series. I really enjoyed this book, it was engrossing and I never even had a suspect till the crime was solved. Every time I had to put the book down, I couldn't wait till I could pick it up again. Very entertaining, and really pretty thought provolking. It dealt with a lot of the same characters we have been seeing all along in the series, with a couple additions, and we got to know some old characters much better than ever before. This really has me wondering what will be next and where the story will go from here.

Ceremony in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Fifth in the Eve Dallas series, I really enjoyed this book. I so thought I had the murders solved, and when the ending came, I was totally blown away!! So far, this has been a great series, and I wonder how long I can keep from turning sour about it.

Rapture in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Fourth in the Eve Dallas Series, I was very entertained by this book. I ended up having to put it down for some time (all day long.. eeek) and kept thinking about it and working on who the guilty was. I suspected the killer very early on, but was never sure until the very end. It kept me thinking and that, to me, is a very good mystery novel!! LOVED IT.

Immortality in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Third book in the Eve Dallas series, it was very good, intriguing, and engrossing, every time I had to set it down, I wanted to get back to it as soon as possible. And it even had one of the best qualities of a good mystery... It caught me TOTALLY by surprise!! I would highly recommend.

Glory in Death ~ J. D. Robb

Second book in the Eve Dallas Series, more engrossing than the first, but also a bit more predictable, I had this one figured out by the time the third murder occurred, but it still had the twists and turns that keeps a reader entertained. I am also enjoying watching the development of the characters. How they mature, and deal with life. We shall see what #3 has in store for us.

Naked in Death ~ J. D. Robb

I have long been a fan of Nora Roberts work, but had yet to read anything she penned under the name J. D. Robb. I have chosen to start this series at the beginning, and read it in order until I get to the most recently published novel. This is a Futuristic Crime Drama, and I really enjoyed it, I only had the crime half figured out before it was revealed, which is a rarity for me, and something very few other than Ms. Roberts ever manage. It was not totally engrossing as some of her books are, I was able to set it down and go about life without HAVING to come right back, but it still had the draw that I wanted to keep going and see what would happen next. The story was well told and had enough plot twists to keep you intrigued without totally confusing you. It was also entertaining enough that I am definitely reading the next in the series, Glory in Death, and I have read a few that were so bad I never picked up what came next.

Mountain Laurel

By Jude Deveraux. Takes place in pre-civil war era old west mining camps. One of Deveraux's Montgomery Saga (only word for it... There are LOTS of her Montgomery books!!) I hadn't read this one in quite some time, and had forgotten how good it was.. An Army captain, 'Ring Montgomery, is assigned to guard and protect an opera singer, La Riena, as she tours mining camps singing for the miners. All is not as it seems to be, as they both soon find out, and the adventure is just beginning!!

Northern Lights

By Nora Roberts. Very enjoyable, a mystery/suspense/romance that kept me hopping, I thought I had it solved twice, and I was still surprized in the end. Very good. and engrossing.

But like most of the harlequin series, the whole series is fast reads (in case you couldn't tell by how fast the reviews were done!! LOL)

Granite Man

By Elizabeth Lowell... Third in the Men of the Rocking M series. The story of Cash McQueen and Mariah Mackenzie, it is entertaining and enjoyable. Not terribly engrossing, but perfect for a lazy afternoon's reading.

Outlaw

By Elizabeth Lowell, Second in the Men of the Rocking M series. Good story, I keep reading these, because, they are entertaining, but not totally engrossing, and I can pay attention to the TV, or to my knitting at the same time as reading. Which is perfect for my purposes today.

Fire and Rain

By Elizabeth Lowell. This is the first in the Men of the Rocking M series, that she wrote in the early 90's. Basically a trashy romance, in the harlequin style (in fact, they were harlequins). Modern westerns, I have read them a couple times... I enjoy them every time..

Midnight in Ruby Bayou

The most recent in the Donovan series by Elizabeth Lowell, I refuse to believe it is the last of the series, as there are two siblings left!! I always enjoy this book!!

Point Blank

By Catherine Coulter.. I finally got my hands on it... I have been waiting for it for 6 months, since it was first published! I loved it, couldn't put it down... #10 in this series was as good as the beginning, and much better than #9. Don't get me wrong, Blowout was good.... Just not as gripping or engrossing as most of the rest of the series, or even most of Coulter's other works. I love the continuing story of Sherlock and Savich and all the people they deal with. Sometimes I can figure out the ending before it happens, but not often in this set. This is defiantly a series to reread often and get more and more out of!! I can barely wait till the next book in the series comes out... And it isn't even announced yet WHHHHAAA!!!!

Pearl Cove

Third in Elizabeth Lowell's Donovan series, very engrossing. The first one I read, I loved it so much that I hunted out the previous two and read them!! Very Entertaining!!

Jade Island

#2 in Elizabeth Lowell's Donovan Series... I always really enjoy it, and can't wait to move on to the next one!!

Amber Beach

I love this series by Elizabeth Lowell, it is the series that got me stuck on her. I reread them about once a year or so. The mystery mixed in with, and complicating the romance tells a good story... And the family connection makes it more interesting.. I am still waiting for the books on the last two brothers though... Wonder when she will do those???

Lord of Raven's Peak

Another entertaining novel, if not entirely engrossing, still, pretty good... Did finally link the first book with 2, 3, and 4, but it is a tenuous link, just mentioning a pair of characters from the first book. Not a bad romance series, I recommend it, but not one for someone who needs something more involving and in-depth.

Lord of Falcon Ridge

I managed to start reading the wrong book for the next in the series, and by the time I realized it I was already 1/4 done.... But that is ok... I do now see the connection in books 2, 3, and 4... Still don't see the connection with book 1, but maybe that will come with the reading of book 2... Which I will start shortly... Lord of Falcon Ridge was entertaining, but nothing outstanding.. It just didn't keep you from putting it down, like some of Catherine Coulter's other work (namely her FBI series...)

Lord of Hawkfell Island

Not bad, but not outstanding either... We shall see if the next two tie these together in any manner... So far they are just Viking novels.

Season of the Sun

First in Catherine Coulter's Viking series... Basically a Viking romance... Entertaining, but nothing deep. Still, it kept my interest long enough for me to finish it and start the second in the series...

Wolf Moon

A Nora Roberts short story from the book Blue Moon. Really totally different from her usual stuff, but still engrossing and entertaining. I really enjoyed it.. Will have to see if I can find anything similar... It was really kind more of a sci-fi/fantasy/romance, but luckily for me, I am into just about anything!! LOL .

Yet another one...

I got a few pages into Midnight Bayou, and realized I had read it before, and just wasn't' in the mood for a reread, so I moved on to Blue Smoke, I LOVED it. It was SO engrossing, I just couldn't put it down even at midnight last night!!! I did have this one all figured out, but that was ok.. It was still an entertaining story.

Carolina Moon

oooh... I just finished this one... It was really good... I thought I had it all figured out, and I am pretty good at this from all my reading!! But I was TOTALLY wrong!!! I really enjoyed it... Gonna catch up on my Nora Roberts novels... She comes out with them almost as fast as I can read them!!! I think Midnight Bayou is next... We shall see how good it is!! I have yet to find anything of hers that didn't at least entertain me, even if it wasn't just totally engrossing, it was pretty good...

Several new ones...

I finally got Nora Robert's Red Lily, and was able to finish off the Garden Trilogy, it was really good, and highly enjoyable. I also finished Kathleen Eagle's Night Falls Like Silk, it was a sequel to another of hers that I had really enjoyed. I also got Jude Deveraux's First Impressions and Carolina Isle, unfortunately, that is the order I read them in, not realizing that Carolina Isle takes place before First Impressions, not that it really makes a difference.. Only a couple of characters in common, and it really gives nothing away. I did really enjoy both of them, took me only a few hours to finish each. Now I just have to wait for more of my Wish List to become available!!
In the mean time I have read Johanna Lindsey's Ly-San-Ter series... It is one of my old favorites. Maybe I will pick up the Narnia series next... And hope it can grab my interest.
