Dead Until Dark ~ Charlaine Harris

This is the beginning of a vampire series. Sookie Stackhouse is a waitress with a disability, at least that is how she sees it. Her disability is that she reads minds, unless she is consciously blocking, she hears what everyone around her is thinking. Then into the bar walks Bill Compton, vampire, and for some reason, she can't read his mind, even if she tries. Sookie is intrigued and interested in Bill, and suddenly, there are a series of murders occurring, that appear to have been committed by vampires. Sookie must solve the crime in order to ensure her security as well as Bill's.

This series reminds me very much of Laurell Hamilton's Anita Blake series, I am enjoying it so far.

The Dream-Hunter ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon

This novel is part of the Dark Hunter series. Arikos was doomed by the gods, he had lived for eternity and had no emotions of his own. The only time he could experience an emotion was when he was sharing a dream with a human. And he has finally found a dreamer who's vivid mind he can't live without.
Dr Megeara Kafieri was in search of Atlantis. She has spent most of her life in search of a place that most people believe is a myth. But Megeara knows better, she knows it exists, and better yet, she believes she knows where it is.
Together maybe they can uncover secrets that have been hidden for thousands and thousands of years.
I really enjoyed this book, though was slightly disappointed that it wasn't 'next' in the series. It does explain a lot of mysteries that we have been wanting solved. it is just not the next story chronologically.

Afterglow ~ Catherine Coulter

Chelsea is a flamboyant, Californian romance writer, David is a stuffed shirt, Bostonian doctor, what on earth could they possibly have in common? When a mutual friend decides to fix them up they will find out. More than once the fur will fly! This is a pretty good romance, it predates Catherine Coulter's FBI series, but there is the same basic style, if none of the mystery elements. I enjoyed it.

The Shape Shifter ~ Tony Hillerman

This is the latest in the Leaphorn/Chee mystery series. Chee has a very small part in this story, mostly he is hearing the story as Leaphorn tells it.

Retired Leutenant Leaphorn has been contacted about a murder he helped to investigate when he was just a rookie, something that was supposedly destroyed has turned up. And out of curiosity, Leaphorn decides to look into it, and finds a really intriguing mystery along the way.

On a side note, the man who owns the rug, his name is Jason Delos, which really struck my interest, cause my best friend growing up was named Jayson Delos for his first and middle name. and his middle name is a family name. Just made me wonder...
